The design of the Australian kangaroo changes every year. The obverse depicts a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark of the Royal Mint, the inscription "ELIZABETH II 1952 - 2022 AUSTRALIA" with the years of her reign and also the denomination of the coin - 100 Australian dollars. The kangaroo design on the reverse includes the Perth mintmark - "P", the inscription "KANGAROO", the year of minting, weight, purity and type of metal.
The kangaroo is not only a symbol of Australia but also of the progress of the nation. This is due to a very distinctive feature of the animal - it can not move backwards but only forward.
