According to Orthodox Christianity, holy baptism is one of the seven sacraments - religious rites through which the pious receive God’s grace and the gift of eternal life. The purpose of the ritual is to cleanse the baptized of the original sin and, if the one baptized is an adult, all sins personally committed thus far. Each element in the composition was inspired by Orthodox Christian tradition and iconography.
Obverse
On the obverse of the medal is the Holy Spirit, depicted as a white dove mid-flight, by its most common interpretation in the New Testament. It is pictured below - a visual reference to the Biblical scene in which Jesus Christ was baptized in the Jordan River, and the Holy Spirit descended upon him. In its feet, the Holy Spirit holds a pair of laurel branches - just as Jesus was welcomed into Jerusalem with gifts of laurel and olive branches, so is the baptized welcomed into the Kingdom of God. Over the Holy Spirit is the text “Holy Baptism”, written in a traditional Old Church Slavonic font. Below, there is a designated spot suitable for personalized engraving.
Reverse
On the reverse is a detailed artistic rendition of the typical Orthodox Christianity highly ornamented cross. At the end of each line, there is a floral motif, with smaller crosses at each tip. Around it - is a circle of interlaced floral patterns inspired by the intricate wood carvings that typically adorn the church iconostases across Bulgaria.
Luxurious packaging completes the gift and provides space for your message or wish.

The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is one of the faces of the Holy Trinity - God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. A central dogma of Christianity is the existence of The Holy Trinity - one God made up of three eternal, omnipotent and equal persons sharing a common essence but existing in three states of being. The Holy Spirit proceeds from God the Father but does not succeed Him and God the Son is pre-eternally begotten of God the Father.
Christian iconography typically depicts the Holy Spirit in the corporeal form of a dove, itself a symbol of purity, peace and hope all over the world since ancient times. It wears a halo around its head - a circle of light, signifying its divine status. The Holy Spirit is the bringer of God's grace and plays a role in several Biblical stories, often accompanied Jesus during his mission on earth. The Holy Spirit physically manifests as a white dove, visible to all in attendance, during the baptism of Jesus. As John the Baptist baptizes Christ in the waters of the Jordan River, so does Christ with the Holy Spirit.
In its feet, the Holy Spirit holds laurel twigs - usually a symbol of victory, the Christianity associates them with the resurrection of Christ and the salvation his sacrifice brought to humanity.
The Orthodox Christian Cross
One of the most ancient and steeped in spiritual meaning images in the world - the cross is today best known as the symbol of Christianity. It represents the sacrifice of Jesus, through which, according to Christian doctrine, human sins will be forgiven. The reverse of the Holy Baptism Silver Medal bears the image of an Orthodox cross decorated with floral and geometric motifs and a smaller cross at the tip of each end.
Ornaments
The interwoven floral motifs framing the cross on the medal's reverse are inspired by the intricate church wood carvings, best exemplified in the altars and iconostases spread in places of worship across Bulgaria. The mastery of the ancient craft is recreated using modern coin-minting technology, preserving the elegance of the ornaments and using the properties of the precious metal to highlight their beauty.
