Holy Apostles Peter and Paul Medal Collection
The fourth collection in the Orthodox Saints program is dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul – “pillars of the Christian church” and cornerstones of the faith. They differ in their history, origin, and even in their religious views, but their contribution to the spread of God’s Word has earned them the distinction of “foremost apostles”. Orthodox Christians honour their memory on June 29.
The collection consists of two medals struck to proof matt-gloss quality. Select details are emphasised through the use of a satin texture but, for the first time in this program, an additional finish achieved via laser polishing is also present. In reference to the traditional Orthodox icons of these apostles, Saints Peter and Paul are depicted together, accompanied by symbols of their work and martyrdom. The significance of their role in the development of Christianity is embodied in the image of a church situated behind them, its architecture based on the main building of the Lozen Monastery of Saints Peter and Paul by Sofia, Bulgaria.
The medals in this collection are made with connoisseurs of art, religion and coinage – suitable as gifts for a name day or other significant occasion.
