The Station Street Festival Returns in 2024 With a New Fundraising Medal by Bulmint
Published on 3 September 2024
The second edition of the Station Street Festival is about to bathe Plovdiv in vivid neon colours from September 5 to September 8, 2024. Bulmint is once again among the patrons of the event as well as of the For Our Children Foundation’s “For Children and Parents” Community Support Center.
This year’s medal for a cause, manufactured free of charge by our private mint, continues its retelling of the history of what is today known as Ivan Vazov Str. by illustrating the magnificent architecture of the Plovdiv Central Railway Station the way it looks today. All profits will once again be donated to charity.
How did the Station Street 2023 Festival Medal contribute to the well-being of the City of Seven Hills and what can we expect this year?
The heartwarming success of the Station Street 2023 charity campaign
For the event’s first edition, with no compensation, Bulmint designed and manufactured a festival medal inspired by the iconic street’s early years – an art piece that also serves as a beautiful keepsake from the festivities.
After the campaign, all proceeds from the sale of this medal amounted to 10,185 BGN, all of which was donated to the For Our Children Foundation’s “For Children and Parents” Community Support Center, part of the Early Child Development Complex in Plovdiv.
In the first half of 2024 alone, the Foundation extended its aid to a total of 2,141 children, parents, and specialists. It offers assistance in integrating kids into the social and educational system, support for children with developmental delays or difficulties, aid and courses for foster parents and candidates and more. It offers programs that support kids under the care of social services, ones that provide family support, and many more.
These funds contributed to:
- The provision of specialised assistance for children and their parents by rehabilitation therapists, psychologists, speech therapists, etc.
- The provision of support by accompanying specialists
- Educational and recreational activities, such as courses, sports activities, excursions, etc.
- Funding for the provision of medical services, medication, therapies, diapers, specialist examinations, lab tests, etc.
- Covering administrative and organisational costs for equipment maintenance, building maintenance, etc.
The “For Children and Parents” Community Support Center’s charitable work covers Plovdiv and seven other neighbouring municipalities, their main focus being 0 to 7-year-old kids that are at risk of abandonment or with developmental issues, as well as their parents.
The Station Street 2024 Festival Medal
Once again struck to proof quality from 20 grams of copper and plated in 999.9 fine gold, the 2024 medal is inspired by what was formerly known as Station Street’s main function – to connect the much smaller at the time city to the still new railway station. Learn more about the history and the early days of Ivan Vazov Str. in our article about the festival’s first edition.
The train station’s second building, which inspires awe in locals and visitors alike to this day, is depicted on the obverse – the successor to a much smaller structure that was once located some hundred metres away from the current one. Plovdiv’s Central Station is the work of Italian architect Mariano Pernigoni and is one of the many representatives of Baroque architecture in the city. Select details gleam with exceptional beauty thanks to their satin finish. The festival’s logo returns on the reverse of this year’s edition as well, now updated and recreated in reverse proof quality.
The medal is a limited edition of only 500 pieces. You can buy it in person at the festival.
It was an honour to once again be a part of this wonderful event and the cause it supports. We believe that with the upcoming donation the For Our Children Foundation will grant thousands of innocent souls the most precious gift of all – the opportunity for a better future.
