Bulmint returned for the third time as an exhibitor at the 51st World Money Fair in Berlin
Published on 14 February 2024
Bulmint once again returned as an exhibitor at the World Money Fair. In 2024, for the first time ever, we gave investors, collectors, and dealers from all over the world the opportunity to buy our products at the fair itself – to great success. We also returned as speakers at the 20th Technical Forum with “Principles of refinery and casting of precious metals” as our topic.
In this post we will tell you all about the 2024 World Money Fair – and the newest developments in the minting industry.
Networking dinner at one of the highest restaurants in Berlin
During last year’s World Money Fair, Bulmint welcomed the representatives of modern coinage with an evening event at the Reichstag’s rooftop restaurant. Each guest got the valuable opportunity to exchange ideas with long-established partners and to create new connections in the elegant atmosphere of one of the classiest restaurants in Berlin.
The overwhelmingly positive feedback inspired us to turn this event into a tradition, and this year we once again brought the community together with a dinner that captured the full charm of the city - this time at the SOLAR Sky-Bar Restaurant Lounge.
SOLAR is situated on the 16th and 17th floor of an apartment building in the very heart of Berlin. From these heights, the restaurant offers a breathtaking 270-degree panoramic view of the city – an unforgettable experience for each of its guests.
Among this mesmerising beauty we gathered together members of mints, machinery and equipment manufacturers, and dealers from all over the world. The event acted as a platform for discussions related to the latest developments in the industry, as well as its potential for future innovation. Finally, it set the tone for the World Money Fair as an opportunity to strengthen relations within the field – and the solidarity we established over a few hours stayed with us till the end of the exhibition.
The 20th Technical Forum
Our team was once again among the speakers at the Technical Forum preceding the World Money Fair.
This year, Maya Ivanova and Thomas Köninger were Bulmint’s representatives. Their presentation touched upon the earliest stages of precious metal product manufacturing – refining and casting. Every gold or silver investment product’s journey begins with these two processes, but many mints across the globe prefer to outsource them. Bulmint’s closed in-house production cycle gives us an inside look into these relatively lesser-known aspects of precious metal coin, medal, and bar manufacturing – as well as expert know-how we were happy to share with those in attendance.
Thomas and Maya were chosen for their status as specialists in their respective fields. Maya is an analytical chemist with a bachelor's degree in Analysis and Control and a master's degree in Spectrochemical Analysis, with an apprenticeship at the Vienna University of Technology. She unveiled the inner workings of the newest addition to our industrial processes, thanks to which we finally closed the production cycle under one roof – refining gold-containing materials into 999.9 fine gold. Thomas – an engineer with over 15 years of experience in coinage and over 30 years of experience in production - took the stage for the second topic in the presentation. He explained the three main methods of precious metals casting – mold casting, vacuum casting, and continuous casting, each accompanied by a video demonstration.
The Forum was just as interesting to our team. Among the speakers we saw members of some of the most respected organisations in the industry – the Royal Canadian Mint, the Polish Mint, Germania Mint, Sempsa, and more. They covered topics such as automation in minting, die laser engraving, selective plating, and so much more.
The Technical Forum is traditionally followed by a gala dinner to which all participants are invited. This year, the event marked its 20th anniversary with something special – with the aid of our company as long-standing partners. At the end of the evening, the organisers conducted a raffle, and the winner became the first to own a 1 kg collectible Silver Phoenix Medal by Bulmint – an exclusive product that is not available for sale on the domestic market.
The 2024 World Money Fair
This year’s World Money Fair started at 10:00 AM on February 2 at the Estrel Complex in Berlin.
Our team was at booth E10, Exhibition Hall 1. We built upon last year’s brand presentation with a new booth design – a sleek, modern, black corpus with a built-in screen. Behind its walls lay a comfortable meeting room for members of our company and business partners.
For the first time this year, fairgoers – among which were notable collectible and investment coin dealers – had the chance to buy our products during the event, including the newest additions to Bulmint’s portfolio.
Now available internationally – the Gold Phoenix investment coin series
In 2023, we introduced the first coin manufactured and distributed under the Bulmint brand. Since then, the series has expanded. Mere days before the fair was the long-awaited debut of the Gold Phoenix bullion coins – 1 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz of 999.9 fine gold.
This series’ international premiere was our main focus at the 2024 exhibition. The products instantly piqued the interest of private customers and dealers alike – between the start of the event on February 2 and its end on February 4 we sold hundreds of Phoenix coins.
The Mustang silver bullion coin’s official premiere
The 2024 World Money Fair marked the debut of Bulmint’s newest product – the Mustang investment coin, 1 troy ounce of silver.
Visitors to the fair were the first to gain access to this bullion product. It quickly became a point of attraction – the pieces we had in stock were sold out within the first day of the fair. Luckily, our team in Bulgaria was ready to offer instantaneous support and managed to restock our inventory the very next day. The supply of Mustang coins we had at the time of the exhibition sold out completely.
The Mustang silver bullion coin is now available in Bulgaria as well.
Final impressions from the event
The 2024 edition of the World Money Fair marked Bulmint’s greatest success to date. Customers, distributors, and mints from all over the world took an interest in the quality of our products, as well as the capabilities the closed in-house production cycle gives us. Hundreds of Gold and Silver Phoenix coins and Māori silver coins were sold during the event – as well as all available Mustang coins.
Much like any other year, we value the opportunity to meet respected partners from every corner of the world this event presented. We hope that the acquaintanceships formed during the 51st World Money Fair grow into long-term collaborations that will benefit our own development, manufacturing in Bulgaria, and the precious metals industry as a whole.
Bulmint will be back at the World Money Fair in 2025 – with new and ever more exciting products and innovative additions to our operations.
