The obverse presents a portrait of King Charles III by the artist Dan Thorne, the inscription “CHARLES III AUSTRALIA” and the denomination "1 DOLLAR".
The reverse depicts the iconic red kangaroo (one of the four kangaroo species living on the Australian continent), surrounded by the sunrays of the Australian sun. The design is by the famous artist Stuart Devlin. Around the edge of the coin is the text "AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO", the year of minting, weight, purity and type of metal. The inscription "KANGAROO" contains an enhanced security element with a micro-engraved letter to the symbol "Е". It is visible only when magnified. This protection is designed to add a further level of security against counterfeiting.
Unlike the Gold, the design of the Silver does not change every year.
The kangaroo is not only a symbol of Australia but also of the progress of the nation. This is due to a very distinctive feature of the animal -it can not move backwards but only forward.
